PEC-G

The Undergraduate Exchange Student Program (PEC-G) offers higher education opportunities to citizens of developing countries with which Brazil has educational and cultural agreements. Developed by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, in partnership with public universities - federal and state - and private universities, PEC-G selects foreigners between the ages of 18 and, preferably, up to 23, who have completed high school, to undertake undergraduate studies in Brazil.

The foreign student selected takes the undergraduate course free of charge. In return, he or she must meet certain criteria, among which are proof that he or she is able to pay for his or her own expenses in Brazil, a high school leaving certificate or equivalent, and proficiency in the Portuguese language.

People who are part of socio-economic development programs, agreed upon between Brazil and their countries of origin, are preferentially selected. The agreements determine the student's commitment to return to his or her country and contribute to the area in which he or she graduated.
