What is it?
The Individual Taxpayer Register (Cadastro de Pessoa Física - CPF) is a database managed by the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal do Brasil - RFB), which stores registration information on taxpayers obliged to register with the CPF or citizens who have registered voluntarily.
Who can use this service?
Brazilian or foreign citizens, resident in the country or in transit.
Steps for this service
1- Request registration
Fill in and submit the electronic form online.
You can also request your registration at the Virtual Service Points (PAV) located at the partner entities, or by email, or through the Federal Revenue Service network.
Enter the information requested in accordance with your identification documents.

DOCUMENTATION:
Common documentation for all cases
- Official identification document with photo of the person concerned;
- Birth certificate or marriage certificate, if the official identification document presented does not state the person's place of birth, filiation and date of birth; and
- Voter registration card or document proving electoral registration (compulsory for those over 18 and under 70).
- Additional documents may be requested by the attendant.
Citizens aged 16 or 17:
Official identification document with photo of the applicant (one of the parents), if applicable;
Citizens under 16 years of age:
- Official photo ID of the applicant (a parent, guardian, or custodian); and
- Document proving guardianship or responsibility for guardianship, as the case may be, of the incapacitated person.
Other cases of legal representation:
- Official identification document with photo of the applicant;
- Documents proving legal representation, such as power of attorney, guardianship, term of curatorship, term of appointment of executor, etc., as appropriate;
- Death certificate, if the CPF belongs to a deceased person.
To apply by email
- A selfie of the citizen or their legal guardian, if applicable, holding the identity document;
- Additional documents may be requested by the attendant.

2- Presenting documents
In cases where filling in the electronic form or receiving assistance from a partner entity results in the issuance of a service protocol, present the generated protocol and the necessary documents, listed in the step above, to the Federal Revenue Service or to the Brazilian consulate for residents abroad.
